Rainy Setbacks to Dream Garage: Fitness Family's Jaw-Dropping Renovation Journey!
From Rainy Delays to Customized Delights: No Job Too Tough.
Embarking on the first project of 2023 brought both excitement and unexpected challenges. What started as a routine garage renovation project turned into a months-long design process, transforming a once-standard garage into a personalized haven for a fitness-oriented family. This journey was marked by unforeseen rain delays pushing out the foundation redo, and the creative challenge of maximizing space in a one-car garage.
The renovation project faced an unexpected hurdle – an uncharacteristically long rainy season that pushed the timeline by two months. The foundation work could not be completed, causing a ripple effect on the entire project schedule.
The Cabinet Evolution:
Initially planning for standard 6-foot high cabinets, the extended timeline prompted a reevaluation of the design. This led to the creation of fully custom 7-foot cabinets that would make the most of the limited space in a one-car garage. The challenge was not just maximizing storage space but also modifying the garage door height.
The challenge was to design and transform the one-car garage into a multifunctional space by careful planning and innovative ideas and storage solutions. The end result was a harmonious blend of storage for bikes, snow gear, kitchen overflow, an AV server rack, and even a dedicated laundry area. This space, once mundane, now served as a testament to the possibilities of creative design.
Throughout the process, it was impossible to overlook the stress endured by the fitness entrepreneur couple and their children. Luckily they didn’t have to live in a construction zone, but dealt with continuous delays, and witnessing the transformation of their home into a construction site undoubtedly tested their patience. However, the final outcome would soon make the challenges worthwhile.
All the useful wall surfaces were covered in either slat wall or cabinetry. We installed a work surface in the laundry area and a second workbench with two sets of drawers for working on mountain bikes. On the left side we installed cabinets for snow gear and left a space for the garage fridge.
This design encompassed all the clients requirements making it a truly multifunctional and useful space.
What began as a routine renovation turned into a testament to resilience and creativity. The extended timeline and unforeseen challenges paved the way for a truly customized home that met the unique needs of its inhabitants.
