Transforming Garages: A Makeover Story

In the beginning…

Your garage is more than just a space to park your car, it's an extension of your home. The garage is used as an entryway into the home and creates the first impression that goes beyond its traditional purpose. For one set of customers, their garage was a place that had served them well for 12 years but was in need of a transformation. They envisioned a garage makeover that not only rejuvenated the aesthetics but also added functionality and organization to the space. In this blog post, we'll delve into the exciting journey of revamping a 12-year-old garage floor with epoxy, breathing new life into an old workbench, and creating an organized haven with additional slatwall.

The Vision:

The customers had a clear vision for their garage makeover – a space that not only looked visually appealing but also served as an organized haven for their belongings. The primary goal was to redo the 12 year old painted and peeling garage floor using epoxy vinyl flake, a durable and aesthetically pleasing choice that can withstand the test of time.

The Garage Floor Transformation:

The first step in this garage makeover journey was the transformation of the garage floor. The customers opted for epoxy vinyl flake, a popular choice known for its durability and resistance to stains. The process involved meticulous preparation of the existing floor, application of the epoxy coating, and the addition of vinyl flakes for a decorative touch. The result was not only a stunning visual upgrade but also a robust and easy-to-maintain garage floor that would last for years.

Reviving the Workbench:

With the garage floor now boasting a brand-new look, attention turned to the old workbench area. Initially we were going to revive it but I suggested we install an 8 foot workbench because some of the tools were on the floor and it would much better if the tools had their own space. At the same time we pulled out the cheap particle board cabinets and drawers that were falling apart. We matched the existing large cabinets that were solid to out white metallic flake cabinets and drawers.

Slatwall for Organization:

Organization was a key aspect of the garage makeover. Over 12 years, clutter had accumulated, and it was time to create a system that would keep everything in its place. The addition of slatwall provided the perfect solution. Versatile and customizable, slatwall allowed the customers to hang tools, sports equipment, and other items neatly on the walls, freeing up floor space and creating a visually appealing and organized environment. it also gave the owners the opportunity to clear out their clutter.

Clearing Out the Past:

The garage makeover also presented an excellent opportunity to declutter and clear out items that were no longer needed. It was not just about organizing the present but also creating space for the future. The customers took this chance to bid farewell to old and unused items, including their son's childhood memorabilia that had been stored in the garage for years.

Conclusion:

The transformation of this 12-year-old garage into a stylish, organized, and functional space is a testament to the power of thoughtful renovations. From the epoxy vinyl flake floor to the revived workspace and the addition of slatwall, every aspect of the makeover was carefully considered to meet the customers' vision. It's not just a garage; it's a transformed space that reflects the homeowners' commitment to both aesthetics and functionality. This garage makeover is a reminder that with a clear vision and the right choices, any space can be turned into a haven of comfort and style.
